Ben Franklin Might Pause

It was a little anti-climactic when all was said and done.

Senator Lamar Alexander's statement very late on Thursday evening even more than Senator Lisa Murkowski's decision on witnesses on Friday afternoon brought us ever closer to an awkward ending probably early next week to a sordid chapter in what's become  Drunken American History.

The old 'yeah he's a lying scumbag but whatcha gonna do?' shoulder-shrug defense from the GOP Senators inevitably carried the day as predicted because cowardice in the face of danger is how we built this country. But maybe at some reptilian brain level, they're right. You get along by going along. And if you surrender a little bit every day by the time you totally capitulate, there's really not much left to give up.

But you know what? It's okay, turn the page. Now we shift our focus as we should have from the start to Tuesday, November 3, and make Donald John Trump's presidency history. And with his defeat, we'll mark the end of an error and an aberration that we must promise one another to never repeat nor ever excuse or forget.

Merry Christmas

I love the idea that somewhere, all day long, it's just starting to be Christmas Day.  Hope that's happening right now where you are...
